OBJECT DETECTION IN EX AREAS
Photo sensors, in conjunction with suitable fiber optic optics, are ideal for use in potentially explosive areas:
The sensor electronics are mounted outside in the protected area, the light signals are transmitted to the measuring site via the optical fiber, no electrical energy is required at the measuring site.
Both touch and light barrier operation are possible.
The optical fiber (fiber optics) is divided into two parts; a special, gas-tight wall bushing enables the light signals to be directed into the sealed-off hazardous area. This also ensures complete electrical isolation between the connected system parts.
The sensor can be selected from a variety of configuration options. For this application, the fiber optics are designed with a silicone coating; the diameter depends on the required sensing range or range; special versions are also possible for high demands. The length of the fiber optic is twice a maximum of 12 m.
